Home' InDaily : October 30th 2009 Contents Tonkin Consulting is an established and well
recognised South Australian consulting firm,
specialising in a range of fields from civil
infrastructure, traffic and transport, water,
spatial and environmental disciplines.
As a proudly South Australian company
Tonkin has experienced a steady period
of growth and employs nearly 120 staff in
offices located in Adelaide, Mt Gambier,
Berri and Darwin.
The culture at Tonkin is a product of more
than 50 years of history with a demonstrated
commitment and reputation for providing a
challenging, collaborative and rewarding work
environment which recognises and supports
the need for positive work/life balance.
Managing Director, Ken Schalk commented
that as the impact of the Global Financial
Crisis rippled across the globe, Tonkin was
extremely fortunate that the overall demand
for their quality professional services
remained strong with clients continuing to
seek them out for the delivery of reliable, cost
effective and sustainable solutions.
"We're passionate about what we do and our
inclusive culture provides the opportunity and
support to our staff to produce the quality
solutions that our clients expect from us."
During this period he was pleased to
announce the relocation of their head office to
new premises in Kent Town and the opening
of an office in Darwin.
Ken said," the move to the new premises in
June marked a major milestone in the history
of Tonkin Consulting. With the steady growth
of the business we had outgrown our Wayville
accommodation, which presented an exciting
opportunity to relocate and continue to expand."
The new building, now a landmark in Kent
Town, features a "Green Initiative" with a
5-star environmental design. A highlight of the
internal design is a full height atrium centrally
located within the circulation areas through
the spine of the building, incorporating a full-
length skylight and glass feature wall.
Clients and employees alike are enjoying
the benefits of the new premises which are
ideally located at 66 Rundle Street, Kent
Town -- close to the main CBD, the East
parklands, local cafes and the Norwood
